About Magellan Community Charities
Magellan Community Charities is a non-profit organization. It was created to build and operate a senior long-term care and assisted living facility, offering culturally sensitive care to aging members of Portuguese-Canadian communities. Magellan will enable seniors to better access high-quality care and lead happy and healthy lives.
On April 17th, 2018, the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care issued 256 long term care beds to Magellan.
On March 18th, 2019, the City of Toronto publicly announced that Magellan was the successful RFP proponent to secure a site located at 640 Lansdowne Avenue, Toronto.
Magellan will also accomodate an additional 60 assisted living & affordable housing units. The centre is expected to open its doors to the community in 2022.
